This is a list of some popular and useful open source programs. Not all of the programs listed are technically defined as "open source" (which is software that lets its source code be freely edited), but all of the programs are freely available with no cost to download.

Global Awareness Tools

  • iFolder
    Platform:      Linux, Windows, OSX
    Description: iFolder is a simple and secure storage solution that can increase your productivity by enabling you to back up, access and manage your personal files-from anywhere, at any time.     Description: N|VU is a web authoring tool (or simply put, a web page editor). N|VU has many advanced features and is a fairly complete alternative to other commercial web authoring tools.

Bundled Programs
  • TheOpenCD
    Platform:      Windows
    Description: TheOpenCD project bundles some of the best open source software for Windows onto one CD. Some programs that are included are Firefox, Thunderbird, GIMP, Blender, OpenOffice, and MoinMoin. On the CD, the programs are arranged into the categories of Productivity, Design, Internet/Networking, Multimedia, Utilities, and Games.
