Long Cane Middle School's Grant Excerpt:
"Troup County’s Enhancing Education Through Technology proposal is grounded in best practice and research with consideration given to the requirements of NCLB and the Georgia Performance Standards. As Phillip Schlechty endorses in Shaking Up the School House - How to Support and Sustain Educational Innovation, the core business of schools must become “the invention of tasks, activities and assignments that the students find to be engaging and that bring them into profound interactions with content and processes they will need to master to be judged well educated.” Similarly, the Troup County Technology Literacy Development Plan states, “Technology Literacy …involves a vision where each citizen has a degree of knowledge about the nature, behavior, power and consequences of technology from a broad perspective. Inherently, it involves educational programs where learners become engaged in critical thinking as they design and develop products, systems and environments to solve practical problems."
