FLL competitions require children to design and deliver hands-on, interactive robotics
demonstrations and research presentations in a sports-like atmosphere. All FLL teams must
prepare for and participate in FLL Qualifier Tournaments to proceed to the Georgia FLL
Championship. The Chattahoochee Valley does not sponsor such an event…YET! Join Frank Braski,
local FLL coach, with CSU professors, local Instructional Technology Specialists and
experienced parent supporters to learn how your teachers, schools, community organizations
and businesses can contribute to the organization and maintenance of the Chattahoochee Valley FIRST LEGO League!

Session Description:
Dr. Spencer Kagan and the 2008-2009 Kagan National Tours bring "Brain-Friendly Instruction" to Georgia
educators! Startling new brain imaging techniques provide scenic windows into real-time brain
functioning. For the first time, educators can actually view the functions of the human brain as it is
engaged in various instructional strategies. Through this "brain imaging" technology and other advances
in brain science, there is an emerging understanding of which teaching methods best align with how the
brain best learns. Workshop participants will discover which instructional strategies are brain-friendly
and which are not. Proven structures for brain-friendly teaching will be a focus of the workshop!
Teaching will be easier and learning will be more effective once educators understand how the brain
actually "learns."
