Carl Dekker is the Instructional Technology Specialist for Columbus State University’s Center for Quality Teaching
and Learning (CQTL) and Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC). Mr. Dekker served eight years as a teacher
in the Muscogee County School District (MCSD) and provided students with traditional, non-traditional, and
technology-enhanced instruction. Mr. Dekker holds a Masters degree in Secondary Math Education and facilitated a
wide range of math curriculum from SAT Preparation to Algebra 3.
While in the classroom, Mr. Dekker recognized the need to better integrate technology into the K-12 curriculum and began pursuing online learning as an option for students. In the fall of 2003, Mr. Dekker continued serving MCSD students as the district’s first online leaning coordinator, providing online options and opportunities to district students. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Dekker joined the ETTC at Columbus State University in support of the implementation of the Georgia Virtual School Program, a Georgia Department of Education statewide online learning initiative. While the ETTC continues to support the Georgia Virtual School Program, Mr. Dekker’s work primarily focuses on administering and facilitating grants within the Educational Technology Training Center’s 17 regional counties. Mr. Dekker is proud to collaborate with CSU’s College of Education and the Georgia Department of Education to promote the use of 21st Century Skills to support teaching, learning, and leadership. |
